Sophie becomes new YEP chair >>

Holistic's founding director Sophie Eastwoood has been elected as the new chair of the Young Entrepreneurs in Property (YEP) organisation.

With a membership of 1,500, YEP provides opportunities for the property industry's rising stars to network and do business, including evening events, site tours and seminars.

Sophie will take up her position on 1 August 2010 when current chair Charlie Rosier steps down. She said: "Our goal is to increase membership even further and give a voice to younger people in property and construction, capturing their views on key issues and increasing their influence in the industry."

Optimism at the BCO London Conference >>

The uplifting speech from Lord Coe - 'We should judge the Olympics by the legacy they will give to London' - was a highlight of this year's BCO Conference in London. With confidence improving, long-awaited announcements on large City projects and talk of smaller projects going ahead despite recent funding cuts there was plenty for the 500 delegates to mull over amongst the more formal discussions on politics, economy, transport - and what this all means for the built environment.

"Given the backdrop of the Queen's Speech and forthcoming Budget, there was a surprisingly buoyant mood at the conference," said Holistic director Victoria Connell. "Perhaps the nature of development means we're all now focused on three years' time rather than the challenges the current climate brings, but it is these wider, long term discussions that are vital for helping to shape London once the recession has eased and the Olympics Games are over."

Holistic at MIPIM >>

Holistic was at MIPIM again this year, which proved an excellent event with senior property professionals all there to make deals and do business.

We looked after all of our clients who attended, securing coverage in MIPIM News and helping them to make the most of the event. For cost consultant and project managers MPG Shreeves and construction firm Margolis, we filled their itineraries with new business meetings, which will be nurtured over the coming weeks to lead to new work.

"The key to a successful MIPIM is planning, being selective about the events you attend, making the most of every day, and, most importantly, following up on all the leads and developing the new relationships you've formed," said Holistic Director Sophie Eastwood, "It's ultimately a people business, after all."
